Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu has made history after being cast as the first ever female Dr. Watson in a new update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.
The new show, Elementary, is loosely based off of the British BBC drama Sherlock (which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman and is AMAZING). Sherlock Homes has seen many incarnations but never before has one of the main characters had their gender switched. Now Lucy Liu will play a Watson (Dr. Jane Watson, maybe?), a former surgeon former who becomes the legendary detective’s sober companion as Holmes struggles with life after rehab and solve crimes.
Lucy Liu will appear in Elementary alongside British actor Johnny Lee Miller.
